Mass Metta Massage

Emily is a licensed massage therapist and registered yoga teacher. She graduated from Cortiva Institute-Boston in 2009 where she gained a foundation in Swedish relaxation and deep tissue massage. She went on to study Thai Yoga Massage at the Lotus Palm School in Montreal and then pursued a teaching certification from O2 Yoga with Mimi Loureiro in 2012.

In April, 2014, Emily became certified to teach yoga to people with Parkinson's Disease at TriYoga Boston with Renee LeVerrier (an American Parkinson's Disease Association sponsored program). During her pregnancy with her daughter, Vivian, Emily was featured in Linda Sparrowe's book Yoga Mama: The Practitioner's Guide to Prenatal Yoga.

Emily graduated from Boston University where she majored in Sociology and French. She also enjoyed a career teaching English as a Second Language which allowed her to work in Morocco, Spain, Portugal and France. Emily’s relationship with movement, however, began at a young age with ballet lessons. Her teen years, spent at Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education, taught her a great deal about injury and rehabilitation and shaped her understanding of the human body and kinesiology.

Today, massage therapy and yoga go hand-in-hand for Emily; her teaching experience is evident in the way she educates her clients on self-care, alignment, and stretching. Perhaps more importantly, yoga has taught her to value compassion, kindness, and acceptance; these are the qualities she strives to bring into her massage practice.
